QR Code Generator — Create QR Codes Online for Free

QR code generator turns any text or URL into a scannable QR code directly in your browser — no upload, no signup, no watermark. Customize the size, foreground and background colors, error correction level, and margin, then preview the result live as you type. Higher error correction levels make the code more resilient to smudges and damage at the cost of a denser pattern, while a larger margin improves scan reliability on printed materials. Once you are happy with the result, download it as a PNG for use on business cards, posters, packaging, or web pages.

Features

  • Live preview

Frequently Asked Questions

Is my text or URL uploaded to a server?
No. The QR code is generated entirely in your browser using the qrcode library. Nothing you type is sent to a server or logged.
What does the error correction level do?
It controls how much of the code can be damaged or obscured while still scanning correctly. L tolerates about 7% damage, M about 15%, Q about 25%, and H about 30%. Higher levels produce a denser, more detailed pattern.
Why did generation fail with an error?
QR codes have a maximum data capacity that shrinks as the error correction level increases. If your text is long, try a lower error correction level (L or M) or shorten the input.
Can I use custom colors?
Yes, set any foreground and background color. Keep strong contrast between them — low-contrast combinations may not scan reliably on all devices.
What size should I use for printing?
For print, generate at a large size (e.g. 512px or more) so the PNG stays sharp at the final print dimensions, and keep a margin of at least 4 for a clean quiet zone around the code.
What image format is the download?
The QR code downloads as a PNG file with a transparent-free background using the colors you selected.
